PAINTING OIL/ACRYLIC

Have you wanted to learn how to paint?  I mean really learn?   Dive into the foundations of painting and gain a strong understanding of not only the supplies and the techniques but the vocabulary and theory.

Painting classes are scheduled through a membership allowing you to come once a week or multiple times a week.   When you purchase the membership, it will be for 10 classes and you will have three months to use them so you can skip weeks due to vacations, illness, or whatever life throws your way.

A Classical Approach to Building Strong Artistic Foundations

Begin your painting journey with confidence and clarity.
Whether you’ve dabbled in oils and acrylics or are completely new, this foundational course is designed to give you the tools, vocabulary, and techniques that every artist needs to grow.

What You’ll Learn:

This class is built on a classical academic approach, helping you understand the “why” behind your brushstrokes so you can build real skills with intention.

  • Understanding Your Tools:
Learn exactly what painting surfaces, brushes, palettes, and mediums are best—and why. Get confident in selecting materials without wasting money or feeling lost in the art store.

  • Color Theory Demystified:
We explore color temperature, intensity, and how to mix both vibrant and neutralized hues to create convincing depth, and realism.

  • Essential Art Vocabulary:
Master the terms artists and instructors use so you can follow professional guidance with clarity—whether you’re taking a class or watching YouTube tutorials.

  • Practical Studies Over Finished Pieces:
This is a class focused on learning, practice, and process. You won’t leave with a “finished painting”—you’ll leave with the skills to create better work moving forward.

Why Foundations Matter:

Too often, self-taught artists hit plateaus due to gaps in their understanding. This class is designed to eliminate guesswork and accelerate your growth. You’ll build a strong foundation that will support every painting you make from here forward.

Class Format:

  • Who It’s For: Beginners and developing artists seeking a structured, academic approach then moving into more advanced paintings.

  • Mediums Covered: Oil and/or Acrylic

  • Focus: Supplies, technique, color theory, vocabulary, skill-building exercises in Painting I and II curriculum

  • What to Expect: Painting I and II curriculum take about 8-10 weeks to complete each.  After you have made it through the curriculum, you move into advanced painting where you are working on your own pieces.    Each new student will move through the curriculum before working on their own pieces to ensure a strong foundation and understanding of all the above skills.
