CLAY- HANDBUILDING
Handbuilding Clay for Adults: Semester Course
Discover the art of handbuilding with clay in this immersive 10-week course designed for adults of all experience levels. From the first pinch to the final glaze, you’ll learn to shape, build, and finish your own unique ceramic pieces.
Over the course of the semester, we’ll cover all the essential handbuilding techniques:
Pinch, coil, and slab construction for creating both functional and sculptural forms.
Hump and slump molds to explore new shapes, textures, and forms.
Surface design techniques such as carving, texturing, and underglaze decoration.
Step-by-step guidance through the bisque fire and glaze fire process, so your work is kiln-fired and ready to take home.
By the end of the course, you’ll not only gain confidence working with clay but also complete several finished, food-safe ceramic pieces of your own.
This is a hands-on, educational experience perfect for beginners and returning students alike. Whether you’re exploring clay for the first time or expanding your creative practice, this class offers both structure and freedom to experiment.
Fall Semester Course is 13 classes. $390 and includes all kiln firing and glazes.
New, first time students receive one 25# bag of clay and can purchase additional 25# bags in studio.
